The software publisher has just released new versions (V6R1) of its transport and international trade solutions. On the menu are a new UI and new traceability-oriented functionalities. Find out about what more the new versions have to offer.
NEW LOOKS FOR THE DDS SHIPPER AND DDS FREIGHT SOLUTIONS
DDS Logistics’ TMS solutions have had a makeover, with their entirely redesigned front offices, tabs with
icons, more attractive colors, enhanced readability. The goal was to make the software more intuitive and
user-friendly: mission accomplished!
A NEW VESSEL GEOLOCATION FUNCTION FOR DDS SHIPPER
Knowing where your maritime freight is at any time? Now it is possible. DDS Logistics has just added a new functionality to its DDS Shipper solution’s Import/Export TMS module: “vessel geolocation”. “With our solution, shippers can be updated on upstream transport and the loading of goods. This new functionality lets them track their containers online up to their destinations” DDS Logistics CEO Jérôme Bour explains. At every transshipment the system is notified so that shipments are monitored end-to-end. Goods are geolocated in real time. The shipper has access to the data regarding the vessel’s flag, type and status (moored or at sea), its speed/route, its destination… This improved traceability means that goods reception among other aspects can be better anticipated.
CHECK YOUR CARRIERS’ INVOICES ONLINE
DDS Shipper’s “Invoice control” is now developed in dot.net. This makes the application entirely accessible on the internet. Users can integrate or modify data over the internet, manage their transport providers’ invoices, those of their suppliers in the case of goods purchases and those of their customers for sold goods. This invoice control module also lets them issue pre-invoices for providers, match received invoices with financial commitments or
convert currencies automatically.
A NEW WEB PORTAL
Also new is the interactive dashboard. With this Silverlight-powered dashboard, it is possible to display shipment statistics (number of shipments completed by month, year, number of incidents and so on) as clear graphics.
FIRST INTERFACES BETWEEN SOGET AND DDS FREIGHT SOLUTIONS LAUNCHED
SOGET (the leading Cargo Community System operator in France) and DDS Logistics, who partnered up last May, have made their solutions interoperable – port community system AP+ and Soget Customs on SOGET’s side and DDS Freight on DDS Logistics’ side. The common interfaces will ensure reliable, optimized data interchange between the two actors’ systems, in particular through real time updating of DDS Freight statuses. Moreover they will provide support for CRESA (acknowledgement of receipt for unannounced goods) and DOS (forwarder export file creation) messages.
In the former case, the handling party – who has to process goods without prior notification – is automatically assigned a conventional export number (ECV) by AP+ as for a conventional shipment. Reception data for these goods are transmitted to DDS Freight directly.
In the latter case, the export file number (DOS), which sums up position data for customs and sea companies’ booking confirmations (CBK) is automatically transmitted to DDS Freight. Similarly, customs tax and duties data integrated in SOGET customs (single window for all customs e-procedures) will be automatically integrated into DDS Freight.
NEW CRM
DDS Freight has been given a new customer relation module.
This CRM provides third party management, allowing all customer/prospect/supplier data
to be centralized into one single base. Basically, this module will give the sales department
the possibility to follow up a “file” from prospecting to current operations. The front office
gives access to issued invoices, current or monitored purchases, the list of files associated
with the current third party, contracts, change logs… Note that the prices applicable to the
customers as well as those enforced by the suppliers, commercial statistics and margins are
also included. In its next version, this module will include a quotation function.
A NEW MODULE FOR BULK TRANSPORT MANAGEMENT
The DDS Truck solution offers four new features. The first one is a “BULK TRANSPORT MANAGEMENT” module. This module makes it possible to manage transport of raw materials (ore, sand, stone, liquid…) as well as cargo in bags or non-containerized pallets.
The second one, “MANAGEMENT OF TRANSPORTED TONNAGES” focuses more specifically on vessel unloading. When a vessel arrives at a port, the module can calculate the number of carriages needed to unload it on the basis of a theoretical weight to carry and issue transport orders to carriers. The actual weights carried take tipper or flat-bed tare weight into account. Among other features, the module allows partial invoicing in proportion to the volumes actually carried.
SUPPORT OF BARCODE SCANNERS
Transport orders can now be integrated directly into DDS Truck through barcode scanning. The publisher has developed a new interface allowing these data to be loaded into the software. Strong point: this system cuts down on manual data input and reduces possible errors. In addition, operators can complete this information to calculate the actual weight that they are carrying.
IINTERACTIVE PLANNING
Manpower and equipment allocation visualized on one single screen: this is what the new interactive planning feature brings you. This utility, which is deployed as standard in DDS Truck, displays staff and equipment occupancy on one large size screen. Strong point: at any time the planner is able to know what means are available and identify the carriages that have been allocated already.
